Why
this is important:
This program helps recruit and retain veterans to be homeowners in Iowa. By providing a small amount of assistance to buy a home in Iowa, we are keeping veterans here as residents, and we are successfully recruiting veterans to live in Iowa rather than across the rivers.
What we're doing about this:
We are continuously educating veterans about this program. All county service officers have been given information to help educate their veterans about this benefit. We have information on our website and in all our publications.

Why
this is important:
This program provides assistance to veterans that cannot be provided through other veterans affairs or community assistance programs. Veterans can be helped with emergency repairs or dental needs, as well as several other categories of assistance. The program is needs-based and helps to give veterans/families a hand up.
What we're doing about this:
We are continuously educating veterans about this program. All county service officers have been given information to help educate their veterans about this assistance. We have information on our website and in all our publications. County service officers are expected to help fill out the application, so they can connect the veteran with all available assistance in the community.
