Why
this is important:
Single parents, female offenders and displaced
homemakers are able to get pre-employment services
through Iowans in Transition. It is important
that we help them move from counseling, assessment,
ESL (English as a Second Language), GED (General
Education Development), and ABE (Adult Basic
Education) to post-secondary training where
they can prepare for high-paid, high-skill
jobs.
What we're doing about this:
Staff provide technical assistance to program
coordinators, including brainstorming marketing
strategies to recruit participants. We will continue
to encourage coordinators to promote post-secondary
education and training to program participants.
Fluctuations in funding impact program capacity.
